Ayurveda is the oldest, continuously practiced health-care system in the world, closely related to yoga by its philosophical roots. Both yoga and ayurveda are based on the principle that there is an underlying field of energy and intelligence that is the source of our own vitality, intelligence, and health. Losing our connection to that source injures our natural healthy state.
So ayurvedic practices for health are about knowing our own nature and the nature of the world, and habits and practices that can keep them in harmony. Tuning ourselves into the natural world and changes of season and adjusting what we eat can bring healthy balance to our life.
We’ll take time to understand the fundamentals of ayurveda with a focus on food. We’ll talk about the intention of ayurvedic eating and how we can bring some of those ideas into our own kitchen. And then we’ll share a simple and delicious ayurvedic lunch for the season.
